The Benefits Of Kombucha Tea

By Paul Seymour

Ruth Patras of Happy Liver Inc. has a really interesting story to tell about Kombucha and how it saved the life of her young daughter. Being into Fitness I try to stay up to date on the new products and herbal remedies and trends going on in the health market. But when my wife Jen asked me, "Have you ever heard of Kombucha Tea?" I said, "What did you say?" So she said it again, "Kombucha Tea!" I just looked at her and said, "You got me there, never heard of it." Jennifer had just come home from a long weekend away with the girlfriends. Turns out Ruth is one of her many friends. Jennifer said, "You have to hear the story of Ruth's daughter Ciara's.

So before I tell you about Ciara. Let me start by telling you all a little about Kombucha. Since many of you, like me, have probably never heard of it.

Kombucha is a Tea made with a living enzyme. It's traditionally made with tea and sugar and is a quite involved process. Kombucha tea has been proclaimed to strengthen the immune system and balance the metabolism and providing detoxification through the liver. Kombucha tea is also effective in facilitating the digestive process and improving your liver function. Sounds like it mite be good after a night out I thought. It's also said by many to help the immune system, body alkalinity, respiratory system, and circulation. It's also been reported to provide increased energy, decreased appetite, and healthier skin and hair and even help with weight loss.

Where does Kombucha come from? The exact origin of Kombucha is some what mysterious and unknown. However, as far back as the Chinese Tsin Dynasty in 221 BC, a beverage made from tea and sugar was revered as "K'un Pa Chu'a, a tea like wine," and was reputed to have near-magical healing powers. It is believed by many that this was Kombucha.

So now that you know what it is let me get back to Ciaras story. Ciara was only eight weeks old when diagnosed with the "Progressive Liver Disease", called Biliary Atresia. Ciara's doctors informed her parents that she would likely be in need of a liver transplant before her third birthday. Not good news for any mother to get.Out of extreme desperation,Ruth began giving Kombucha to Ciara at the tender age of just 9 weeks old in an attempt to strengthen her immune system and aid the success of her Kasai procedure, (the removal of the atretic biliary ducts outside the liver and the attachment of the small intestine directly to the liver).

Ciara, who is now 14 years old has been drinking Kombucha religiously ever since and has never even come close to needing a liver transplant. Friends and family have long asked Ruth to bottle the same miracle drink that she makes for Ciara at home. Ruth repeatedly expressed concern that because there isn't a convenient and good tasting Kombucha product available, people won't be able to have the same great results Ciara has gotten. After 14 years of extensive research on the positive affects of Kombucha, Ruth has finally fulfilled her friends and Family's requests and Ciara's dream to help other kids like her.

Ruth Patras has been helping children all around the world by donating her services, and speaking on the positive affects of Kombucha for some time as well as giving Kombucha to those in need.

Having to make it for a child she knew that making it taste good would have to be a priority. After sampling some of the other Kombucha products that are currently out in the market place, family members and friends started to urged Ruth to make her Kombucha available to the public. Ruth said "I will but I will only make it with the same standards that I have used for Ciara." She then went on to say." "If I can't give what I make to my own daughter then I will never give it to anyone else." So once we find a way to do that then we will make it available to everyone! Well that day has finally arrived Ruth is now distributing her Kombucha to several health food stores in New Jersey. To find out more about Kombucha you can find several videos on Youtube including how to make it yourself at home. For more information on Ciara's Kombucha go to their website.

I was surprised by this intel because kombucha in Japanese refers to a drink made from seaweed (kombu is a type of seaweed most commonly used for broth). There is no fermentation or sugar involved. A quick check and it turns out the drink described in this intel got confused with the Japanese kombucha when both were being introduced to the West, and the name was never rectified. Go figure.

Nice article and I am so pleased that this helped to cure Ciara, she has grown up into a beautiful young lady.

There is definitely something amazing in various teas, not necessarily miracle cures, but they do provide wonderful treatments for a number of ailments.
